Welcome Log ⬡ 01
Welcome, everyone, to the Library! As you wander your way in, wake up at a desk, or descend an elevator, the library's ambiance is, well... the same as it always is. Comforting-but-not. Warm-but-cold. Empty-but-populated. And, as always, there are certain things going on that just might make settling in a little easier. Information Desk⬡ Maps At the Information Desk, there will be a large stack of paper maps of the library, to suppliment the maps found on everyone's tablets. ⬡ Stationery Next to the maps, there will be a stack of blank notebooks and a haphazard pile of pens. The pens will only be able to write in the notebooks, on characters' personal belongings, and on skin. All three of these items are semi-limited; somehow characters will only be able to make one stack of items as tall as they are once they've been removed from the desk. Notebooks and pens will be provided in assorted colors in shades of red, green, blue, gold, and silver. Cafe Menu⬡ Seasonal Menu ⬡ Cheesy Potato Soup ⬡ Mini Garlic Toast Pizzas ⬡ Cranberry Maple Chicken ⬡ Holiday Roast ⬡ Bread Pudding ⬡ Peppermint Lava Cakes ⬡ Gingersnap Rum Apple Crisp ⬡ Pumpkin Gingerbread Pancakes ⬡ Peppermint Hot Chocolate ⬡ Peppermint Mocha ⬡ Hazelnut Mocha ⬡ Eggnog ⬡ Usual Menu The Cafe menu will also showcase more typical cafe fare, from teas and coffees, to standard hot chocolates, to pastries, donuts, and sandwiches. The Search Bar will also bring up whatever else characters could possibly want. Sunrise Room⬡ Seasonal Showings As always, movies playing at any given time are randomized, but this month there is a higher chance of movies playing with holiday themes or simply a lot of snow. First Floor Restrooms⬡ Seasonal Showers This month, all complimentary toiletries will be either cinnamon, pine, or peppermint scented. Ocean Floor 5⬡ Paper Craft Located in the Group Study Room on Ocean Floor 5 will be all the materials needed to create paper from scraps. Materials may not be removed from the room, but any finished products may! A television will be mounted on the wall, playing a video on repeat. | ||||||||||||||
first floor reference!
[ Is she pouting? Absolutely. If they're gonna trap them here, the least they could have done is come up with something more interesting than bird dictionaries to leave them around with. She's yet to explore the vast majority of the library, but she doesn't care - she's gonna go ahead and make a sweeping judgment right here that this place totally sucks. At the moment, it seems like she's given up on the search for something interesting to read entirely, folding her arms across her chest and resting against the cases rather petulantly. ]
The library is not where I'd go for interesting, [ She huffs. ] So I don't know why I'm bothering. I mean, what do you actually want to find?

( The woman's pouting, petulant outburst is actually pretty funny to Yuri, who finds himself immediately endeared towards her if only because it's such an invocation of Constance. Stick in a perceived slight against House Nuvelle and it'd be like she'd turned up at the library in disguise, the thought of which has the corners of his lips curving upwards as he chuckles. )
Oh yeah, definitely. Thousands and thousands of books just lying around waiting to be read ... there's no way gonna be able to find a way to entertain yourself.
( The tail-end of an eyebrow lifts a little way as he slides the book back onto the shelf, clearly poking fun. )
Anyway, you wouldn't care about the stuff I'm looking for. We should find something for you - what's your thing?
( Yuri curls a finger over his lips and looks her up and down, lilac eyes bright with mischief. )
Let me guess. Fashion? You look like a woman of taste.

Hmmmmmm, well, you're right! About both things. Just for that, I'll pretend I didn't hear you poking fun about me being bored by this place. [ It seems like praise gets her attitude to evaporate pretty quickly - she laughs, and her posture loosens up. ] I was looking for magazines.
[ Misa follows suit, studying his ensemble, the cheeky attitude, the string of letters and numbers floating above his head that are only visible to her. Her eyes are lit up with a similar mischief and curiosity. ]
You're sure you're not looking for something similar? I'm really curious now.

( An old trick, but an effective one. Yuri just smiles, unaware that the letters only she can see have settled on Sacha Alsman, although as vaguely puzzled crease works its way into his brow at the concept of a magazine. She thinks he'd be looking for one too? Well, now he just has to find out ... )
What's a magazine?
( And you know, better to give her something to go on than up the mystery level even more. Yuri knows all too well the dangers of being too evasive; the real trick is in getting the balance right. )
And since you're really curious: between you and me? I'm looking for clues about how we got here. It'd be pretty impressive to be the first person to solve the mystery, right?

[ She looks a little disappointed - here she was hoping she'd find a friend in fashion! He looks so much more well put together than the average joe that she'd been betting on it. Well, searching for an answer to the mystery probably takes priority - for people smart enough to figure that sort of stuff out, that is, which Misa is self-aware enough to know she isn't in that boat. Nonetheless - thankfully, she's run into a medieval type or two that had no idea about the modern world, so she moves onto this explanation rather gracefully, actually reveling in the chance to look Educated on something. ]
A magazine is sort of like a book, but it really just has gossip and advertisements in it. A fashion magazine would show a lot of pictures of designer clothes and makeup that people might want to buy— does that make sense? Like, if a company was coming out with a new lipstick or eyeshadow palette, they'd print pictures of it in a magazine!
[ All the while she's talking, she's making an dramatized attempt to charade what a magazine might look like for him - a thinner book, with pictures in it. ]
Your hair color is so unique, I thought you might be really into fashion trends, or a celebrity, like me. That's all!
[ She comes from a world where a hair color like that could never be natural... she assumes his hair care routine must be immaculate! ]

( Yuri isn't expecting to be particularly interested in the woman's explanation of the magazine, but you know? That actually sounds like an incredibly useful sort of book. As far as the Blue Lions go, Yuri absolutely considers himself the most well put-together when it comes to fashion, and he's always had to keep an eye on appealing trends among the nobility so as to blend in according to his needs.
He looks thoughtful for a moment, and curls a fingertip against his lips. )
Well that definitely sounds like something I'd want to see.
( He's developed a taste for tailored fashion and a fondness for makeup, after all, and likes the idea of being able to reference current trends and styles in one handy document. As for his hair, Yuri lifts his hand to run it under the longer strands in a tongue-in-cheek little flip: )
What can I say? I'm a natural work of art.
( But he's clearly teasing, and as much is evident in the way he chuckles as he lowers his hand again. )
You'll have to tell me if you find any of those fashion magazines, okay? You've gone and got me all interested in what kind of makeup they might have here.

[ And smelling like anything that isn't sugar cookies or other holiday-themed things is going to be a top priority for Misa very soon, she thinks. Now that her little charade is over, she folds her hands behind her back, stepping away from leaning on the bookcase. ]
I was actually looking for them to see if this place had magazines from where I live. They already seem like they know so much about us— so I wanted to see if they'd really done their research on me. [ She pauses. ] Have you found anything like that? A book from wherever you came from?
